Drip irrigation drippers and pipelines are often easy to block in daily use, in addition to some users’ professional skills and improper daily maintenance, the main reason is that the control of irrigation water quality is not strict.
Long-term use of inferior water sources for drip irrigation will not only cause the blockage of drip irrigation drippers and pipelines, so that the drip irrigation system cannot operate normally but also cause the deterioration of soil quality and soil fertility in farmland, affecting crop yield and quality.
The quality of standard drip irrigation water sources should meet the following requirements:
- Water temperature
The water temperature of irrigation water should not be too high or too low, too high or too low has an impact on the growth of crops.
2. Water impurities
If there is too much sediment, weeds, suspended solids, and chemical sediment in the water body, it will directly lead to the blockage of drip irrigation pipes and drippers, and long-term accumulation will collapse the entire drip irrigation system, causing unnecessary economic losses.
Usually, irrigation water is filtered before entering the drip irrigation system to ensure that the water body is clear to avoid the occurrence of the above problems.
3. Water Ph Value
The pH range of irrigation water in general agricultural production should be controlled between 5.5~8.5.
4. Coliforms
Coliform indicators can indicate the degree of water pollution by animal excreta and the safety of water use, and the number of coliforms in irrigation water standards is less than 10,000/L.
